NC called Chitwan banda

Nepali Congress (NC) has called Chitwan banda on Wednesday protesting the attack on Shiva Poudel, Chitwan president of the NC affiliated Tarun Dal and four other inmates inside Bharatpur jail on December 6.

The strike has crippled normal life in Chitwan since early morning as transportation services has come to a grinding halt and all educational institutions, markets and shops have remained closed.  Hundreds of passengers have been stranded on the road, due to the banda.

Devendra Gurung, NC secretary, Chitwan had issued a notice announcing the strike, to be enforced from early morning till five in the evening today.

To ensure a total shutdown, the strike enforcers have been rallying on the road since morning.

They have snatched the keys of the vehicles plying on the road. Protesting the incident, Nepal Students Union has called for indefinite shut down of all the educational institutions in Chitwan.

All the injured in the jail brawl are undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Medical College.

Poudel who went through a surgery yesterday have remained unconscious and will take few days to recover, informed the doctors involved in his treatment.

Tarun Dal had enforced banda in Chitwan yesterday also protesting the attack.
